TED Talks x Dialogue: The Art of Start

Many people has an idea or a cause they care deeply about, but only a handful of us take action because of the fear of judgement and the fear of failure. Why are we so scared of not being ‘successful’?

This time, through the screening of 2 impactful TED talks, discussion and self-reflection, let’s redefine our narrative of success and break free from fear through experiential activities.

TED Talk 1: A kinder, gentler philosophy of success | Alain de Botton
Alain de Botton examines our ideas of success and failure -- and questions the assumptions underlying these two judgments. Is success always earned? Is failure? He makes an eloquent, witty case to move beyond snobbery to find true pleasure in our work.

TED Talk 2: Why you should define your fears instead of your goals | Tim Ferriss
The hard choices -- what we most fear doing, asking, saying -- are very often exactly what we need to do. How can we overcome self-paralysis and take action? Tim Ferriss encourages us to fully envision and write down our fears in detail, in a simple but powerful exercise he calls "fear-setting."
